So the time has come and you’ve decided to sell your car but you don’t know what to do to make sure that you’re going to get the best price possible. Not to worry as that’s where we come in. We’re here to help you to get your car looking its best. By devoting some time to preparing your car for sale, could help you sell your car more quickly. At the very least, it’s a good idea t make sure that it’s clean and tidy, but if you want to make it look more appealing, then tune in.

Clean your car

Clean your car

Every little detail matters when cleaning your car. If you want to make sure that you get the best price possible for your car then giving it a thorough clean should definitely be up there. Get right in there and give it a good scrub, wash it twice if you have to and remember to get inside all those nooks and crannies.

Conduct some DIY checks

It’s a good idea to make sure that you’ve done some basic DIY checks. For example, check the engine oil and the coolant and don’t forget your screenwash too. Are the wipers all working properly and have you checked all the electrics? You might want to check that the engine is clean too, just don’t steam clean it.

Fix any issues

Fix any bodywork repairs

If your car has happened to gather a few lumps and bumps along the way, or maybe it’s developed a couple of scratches, it might be worth removing these before you put your car up for sale anywhere. If your car is quite old, then this is to be expected but it’s still worth trying to clean this up a little, even if you get a professional to try and put this right. Depending on who you’re selling to, some buyers won’t bat an eyelid at the odd scratch here and there, but its’ best to make sure that you’ve done everything you can so that you can get the best value possible for your car.

Do the admin

Nobody likes paperwork but unfortunately, it’s got to be done. Gather all of your car documents together, including the V5C registration document, servicing booklet and MOT certificate. It’s also a good idea to collect all your receipts too for any work that you’ve had done to your car as this will make your car look more attractive and more valuable to a potential buyer. It will also give them a little bit of peace of mind knowing that you have looked after your car.

Car photography

Take some snaps

Last but not least, it’s time to take some pictures. No matter where you plan to advertise your car, there is generally always an option to include some photos. It’s a good idea to take some shots of both the inside and the outside of your car and in good daylight so that potential buyers can get a good look.

You might not be a professional photographer but as long as you’ve got plenty of pictures that are focused and of good quality, this should be ok. As long as you show a clean, well-kept car that’s in good condition, you can’t go wrong really.
