Who makes Genesis cars?

Genesis Motors is Hyundai’s luxury brand, and the Genesis name first appeared on a flagship division Hyundai Sedan beginning with the 2009 model year, when it debuted in 2015. Genesis might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of luxury sedans, but it’s safe to say this luxury car manufacturer has certainly carved out a niche for itself in the market, according to Way. It’s earned a reputation for itself for making stylish vehicles that offer features and performance, but who makes them and are they a new brand?

What is Genesis?

The “Concept Genesis” idea was first conceived by Hyundai in 2003, but it wasn’t until 2007 that the first model was released. The program to build the sports sedan took three years and it cost $500 million to develop, says Auto Tribute.

In 2007, Hyundai Motor Group debuted the first model during the North American International Auto Show, says Mechanic Base and it was after that, it morphed into South Korea and their automaker’s luxury division in 2017, with a two-model lineup, the G80, and the G90 sedans.

It wasn’t until 2015 that Genesis motors became a standalone luxury brand, although the nameplate was previously used on many of parent company Hyundai’s flagship executive saloons, according to Auto Express. It released its first model, the G90, and it arrived in the United States later in 2016 as it was paired with the G80 sedan.

The Genesis brand found itself to be a tough sell for Hyundai when the saloons were brought to the UK before the brand’s launch, and it’s no surprise really given the 3.8-litre V6 engines and a £48,000 price tag on it; it was clearly part of the luxury vehicle division.

Genesis is now a premium brand in its own right. It’s fair to say that Genesis has developed its brand identity and it can be confident knowing that it can rival the European market and the well-established luxury brands out there.

Who makes Genesis cars?

Let’s cut to the chase: Hyundai Motor Company makes Genesis cars, but the Genesis vehicle is not as simple as that. As you can gather from above, Genesis is Hyundai’s luxury brand and is a creation that has been spurred on by the success of other luxury brands, such as Lexus, Toyota’s luxury division. It does sit further up the ladder than the more run-of-the-mill Hyundai and Kia.

Genesis names its price for first European models; G80 saloon starts from £37,460, while GV80 SUV is priced from £56,815

Introducing a premium brand in Europe was a hugely tough task, but Genesis did a fantastic job with two of the most amazing Genesis models, the G80 and GV80. The 2022 G80, is one of Genesis’ premium luxury sedans, with two different levels of trim available in the 5-seater Genesis G80. The most popular trim level is the 2.5T All Wheel Drive, which has an All Wheel Drive system, a 2.5L I4 Turbo engine, and a starting price of £37,460.

The GV80 is Genesis’ largest and most costly SUV, says Way. Although it has similar features to that of the G80, the Genesis GV80 has all the elegance, features, and refinement of its more expensive and established midsize luxury SUV competitors. As a buyer, you have the choice of either five or seven-seat options, with the latter adding £500 to the car’s starting price, according to Auto Express.

Genesis says that its customers will “never need visit a dealer again,” thanks to its new ownership plan, which includes home pick-up and delivery. The scheme also has an aftercare plan, which promises five years’ warranty cover, roadside assistance, servicing, courtesy car use, and over-the-air updates for the car’s infotainment system.

Does Genesis have an electric car?

Genesis has released a hybrid model named electrified GV70. It has a specific battery-powered electric motor. The electric GV70 also represents the debut of Genesis’ first electric car.
