The current third generation of the ML, Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV, debuted in 2011 and as the first SUV with ESP, was ahead of its time. But things have come a long way since then and the latest luxury family SUV from MB, released in 2015, was named the GLE.
The GLE, a high spec, luxury SUV gets its name from the fact that it is around the Mercedes E class size and it matches up closely to the luxury and performance of the E Class.
There are three models to choose from. The GLE sport, the GLE AMG Line and the GLE Designo Line.
Whichever model you decide to go for there is no questioning the efficiency, performance and incredible range of equipment you will enjoy and as a family you will never struggle with fitting in pushchairs and changing bags and children, with its colossal 690 litre boot capacity.
Parking is also a doddle with PARKTRONIC parking assist and its 360 degree camera. Plus, the GLE’s built in memory seats will always remember your preferred driving position for minimum effort and maximum convenience.
Privacy glass and being able to use your phone through the speakers, hands free, if someone calls, both come as standard and it is an extremely comfortable ride both in the front and rear seats for a long family trip if you set the AMG line to air suspension mode.
Buy the AMG line and you also have a choice of ambient lighting in three colours: polar, solar and neutral, 20 inch alloys, AMG floor mats with AMG lettering, the sports brake system and of course, the unmistakable AMG body styling.
The premium package includes a ‘keyless go’ (different to the keyless start – which comes with the standard package) which means you can unlock the car with just the key in your pocket as you approach the car. Also, as part of the premium package you get a full Harmen Karden surround system.
Other features include the automatic start/stop which saves fuel and is better for the environment and if you buy the Designo Line, you will be able to take advantage of the cooling and warming cup holders which we expect will become so popular, it will soon roll out across the entire industry.
