Seat Leon leads UK’s used car market as the fastest seller

Can you believe that the Seat Leon has raced to the top of the charts as the fastest-selling used car? On average, it takes a mere 10 days for this Spanish hatchback to find a new owner, according to AM Online. Impressive, isn’t it?

Auto Trader reveals fastest and slowest selling used cars

The petrol plug-in hybrid version of the Leon hatchback zooms off forecourts in just 10 days, selling an average of 16 days faster than the national average for used cars (which stands at 26 days), according to Motor Trader.

In second and third place for the fastest selling cars, we have the two Vauxhall’s, the Grandland X and Crossland. Both of these shine near the top spot selling in 11 days or less on average.

The fastest-selling list is dominated by petrol and diesel vehicles, with only one electric car and one hybrid making the cut, says Car Dealer Magazine.

And now, the slowest-selling car of the year so far: the Lexus RX. It takes an average of 103 days for this luxury SUV to find its new home.

So, if you’re in the market for a used car, keep an eye out for the speedy Seat Leon!

Auto Trader has crunched the numbers on the used cars advertised on its platform so far in 2024

Auto Trader collates data using the date used cars are listed for sale on the marketplace and when dealers remove them.

Richard Walker, Auto Trader’s data & insights director, said: “The speed in which used cars are selling is a good barometer of health in the market, so it’s reassuring to see that stock is continuing to turn quickly.

“We may see some slight movement by the end of the month, but at this mid-way point, we’re seeing used cars shift at near record levels.

“The variances we’re seeing across different cohorts is a good reminder of just how important it is to follow the data at an almost forensic level; there is huge opportunity, but what’s right for one forecourt isn’t necessarily right for another, so as always, use the data available to spot those cars that are selling the fastest in your local market.”

The firm said volume cars were currently selling the fastest, leaving forecourts on average in 25 days while premium brands take around 29 days, according to Car Dealer Magazine.

The Seat Leon is breaking speed records in the used car market! On average, it vanishes from the forecourts in a mere 10 days—a blink-and-you-miss-it phenomenon.

This Spanish hatchback, with its zippy performance and irresistible allure, has buyers scrambling to claim it. It’s like a sprint to the finish line, where the finish line is your driveway.

So, if you’re in the market for a Seat Leon, you better be quick on your feet (or wheels).
